conditions prevailing today, especially when the rupee is appreciating against
the USD, there is a compelling need for the exporters to know the different
hedging mechanisms available, use them judiciously in order to retain the
profitability.

This event was
organized with Mr Arvind, Assitant
General Manager, State Bank of India,
Chennai as the key speaker. He handles the activities of the Dealing room
pertaining to Forex and has been conducting such
programs regularly.

Power point
presentation on various hedging methods such as Forward contracts, Options and Swaps
were made and the interaction by the participants was enthusiastic.

A small write up
on this subject has been circulated among the participants.

Mr Karthikeyan,
Secretary, TEA made his opening remarks and emphasized the relevance of such a
program at the appropriate time.

Mr Subramaniam,
Assistant General Manager, Overseas Branch, SBI, Tirupur
addressed the gathering and appreciated the objectives of Project Vikas and
such a program would really help enhance
the competitiveness of the exporters.
