Indian MSMEs : Corporates of the Future

Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) constitute a major part of the industrial activity in most of the economies, irrespective of the level of economic development attained. In India, MSMEs constitute around 80% of the total number of industrial enterprises and produce a wide variety of products ranging from the very basic to the highly sophisticated products. MSMEs are a source of livelihood to millions of people and thus help in the creation of gainful employment.

However, MSMEs are also faced with a number of problems. Keeping aside the general issues like infrastructure and resource centered bottlenecks, which are common with large Industries; the MSMEs today face certain problems which are unique viz. finance, marketing, exports, technology, quality, skill upgradation, etc.

To deliberate on these aspects and providing a platform to empower the MSMEs for global competitiveness, Confederation of Indian Industry, Rajasthan is organizing a one day MSME Conclave at0930 hrs on 1 September 2009 at Hotel Sheraton Rajputana,Palace Road, Near Railway Station, Jaipur. Resurgent India Ltd is the knowledge partner for the Conclave.

Objective :
The objective of the conclave would be to provide a platform to MSMEs to interact with various stakeholders and get to know about new technology, markets, cluster approach, various Government schemes, best maintenance practices, financing options, etc. The conclave would also address the following issues related to the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises :-
• Assess the competitiveness of MSME
• Identifying areas in need of assistance for MSMEs to enhance competitiveness
• Future prospects for MSMEs
